Guest Speaker – Fred Bueller Friends of Nevada County Military

Eric Trygg introduced Fred Bueller to talk about Friends of Nevada County Military (FONCM).  Fred thanked the Club for its early support when the group was first formed in 2005.   Fred, a retired banker,  went to Baghdad as an economic advisor.  He came back inspired by the work of our military personnel there and formed the FONCM to support our troops.  They began with mailing  boxes of goodies to the troops with personal letters of support.  He then found out that families at home needed support too, and began a program to assist them.  The projects of FONCM include participation  in parades to give support to troops and welcomes troops home when invited.  The group also helps with families of soldiers killed overseas and helps out veterans as well.  FONCM is looking to new programs for the future as troop deployment reduces.  Fred was given a standing ovation for his outstanding work.

Jon Peek was unsuccessful at the raffle.

Tim reminded the Club to email in any pictures they took from the Rotary at Work day.

Meeting adjourned at 1:15 pm.
