Good afternoon. I am the Epidemiologist with the Nevada County Public Health Department, which is being tasked with promoting the California Disaster Healthcare Volunteer (DHV) registry  in our communities. I am approaching professional medical as well as local community organizations such as Rotary and Soroptomist that may have members who would be willing to register in the database to provide assistance in an emergency.    I am asking these organizations if possible to print the information below in their newsletters,  Facebook pages or other social media resources.

Disaster Healthcare Volunteers of California is a program designed to register both medical professionals who are actively licensed healthcare providers, public health professionals, and interested individuals to volunteer their services in the time of need (such as a declared emergency or other event).  Registrants may be called upon to respond in an emergency.  During a state or national disaster (e.g., an earthquake, severe weather event, or public health emergency), this system will be accessed to request the assistance of registrants. To register as a Disaster Healthcare Volunteer go to  https://www.healthcarevolunteers.ca.gov/.
Thank you so very much.

Sincerely,

Holly Whittaker, MS
